Call your Congressperson today to oppose the AHCA and the repeal of the Affordable Care Act!

Posted: April 27, 2017

News broke today that House Republicans may bring the bill back to the House floor as early as this week now that they have gained additional support from the most conservative members of their caucus with the proposed new changes outlined below.  Please help us oppose the American Health Care Act by calling representatives!

Keep the message simple:

  • The American Health Care Act (AHCA) would eliminate critical public health funding by repealing the Prevention and Public Health Fund
  • The AHCA would result in up to 24 million Americans losing health insurance coverage by 2026.
  • The amended version of the AHCA would allow states to:
    • opt out of the ACA’s requirements to cover 10 Essential Health Benefits
    • opt out of the ACA’s community rating requirements (prevents health insurers from varying premiums within a geographic area based on age, gender, health status or other factors)
    • opt out of the ACA’s requirements on how much older Americans are charged for coverage
    • end the Medicaid expansion under the ACA
    • turn the underlying Medicaid program into a per capita program which would cut $839 billion in federal Medicaid contributions to the state over the next decade

Urge members of Congress to work together in a bipartisan manner to build upon the Affordable Care Act to make it even stronger

Additional talking points on the American Health Care Act can be found here.

There is at least one moderate Republican from the House of Representatives who needs to hear from constituents and other leaders in their state urging them to oppose the American Health Care Act, legislation to repeal major portions of the Affordable Care Act and the new proposed amendment to the AHCA.

ESPECIALLY if you are represented by either of the following representatives, please call them today:

CO-03    Scott Tipton

CO-06    Mike Coffman
